Comments from Readers

Re. my Red Bull Air Race World Series pre-event publicity release: "Jan, that is absolutely fantastic!! Aside from being a car guy, I am a crazy airplane guy too. My buddies have all been to Reno for the air races, I'm still waiting for my chance to go. No one I know has been to the Red Bull races yet. I've watched them on TV a couple of times, though. Being there live will be a neat experience for you. I can't wait to read your coverage of the event in a future column and I hope there will be room for lots of pictures! Best wishes."

“Great article Jan. The photos really give a great view of the total show.”

“I particularly enjoyed the piece on Monterey.”

“Your piece made made me regret not going this year.”

The photo is a WOW!”

“I think your website is terrific. The articles are terrific and the photography is wonderful. I particularly liked some of the racing scenes, interesting cars, people and the way you compose the pictures.”

Thanks for the comprehensive coverage.

“It is one of the best features ever written on the museum and we thank you for such an amazing review.”

“You were just being yourself and that is probably the best part of the column.”

“This column was one of the best ever.  I really dug the coverage of the Jeep mud-splash product reveal. I really think the site is amazing and, with organization and as you build an archive, will be globally competitive. Keep it up.”

“Ya know your business card is  a "winner". That is another reason I can recall who you are. Psychologists would call it reinforcement or some term...but that pix of you in an auto mirror tells a story.”

I am sure your inbox must need to be reinforced to keep from exploding.  Best wishes.

“The article is great!”

nice stuff…”

“Thanks for your honest assessment of the Prius. You have been very helpful!!”

Your style is unique and an easy read.

And now for a note from me to you:

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your ongoing encouragement and support is very much appreciated. I will do my best to give you more of what you have seen and enjoyed in AutoMatters.

You may have noticed that the photo of me in the red Miata mirror, which appeared for years in my newspaper column and here on my Web site, has changed. Friends and relatives told me that it did not really look like me. While it might have been nice to be able to travel incognito, I changed the photo to another one where I feel especially comfortable in the driver's seat of a car.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you like what you see, please recommend AutoMatters to others and especially ask your local newspapers, favorite magazines and Web sites to start publishing it too. To do so they can contact me at  AutoMatters@gmail.com. By doing this you will help AutoMatters grow.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE for MAC USERS (and anyone still using a dial-up Internet connection):

This Web site works best when viewed with a Windows computer using Internet Explorer via a high speed connection to the Internet. Other systems may encounter problems such as taking a long time to open the site (due to the large number of photos in some of the columns) or black boxes instead of some of the photos.

if a couple of photos in any long document fail to open on your Windows computer, you can probably get them to appear as follows. Do NOT just hit refresh, because all that will do is make it reload from what your computer automatically saved offline. If you are using Windows Explorer as your browser, first you need to click on "Tools." From there select "Internet Options." Click the "Delete Files" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" section of the "General" folder. Finally, check the box beside "Delete all offline content" and click "OK." Now you are ready to hit the "Refresh" button in your browser (Windows Explorer) or select "Refresh" from the "View" menu. This process is quick and easy, and you'll probably find that it comes in handy elsewhere, too.
